Civil and commercial litigation in Karachi
MSA Law Chamber advises and represents clients in civil, commercial and constitutional disputes in Karachi and across Sindh. The work covers High Court and district-court litigation, interim relief, trial, appeals and arbitration, so you know the forum, the risk and the next decision.
We act in contractual disputes, recovery and enforcement, injunctions, shareholder and commercial conflicts, and related civil proceedings. Where a negotiated or arbitral route is sounder than a suit, that is the advice you receive first.
Many matters reach us as an urgent request for a stay order, a legal notice that needs a reply, or a civil suit that has already been filed. A stay order is the usual name for a temporary injunction under Order XXXIX, Rules 1 and 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. Where the dispute is about land or a building, see our page on property lawyers in Karachi; for unpaid money and dishonoured cheques, see debt recovery and cheque bounce cases.
Who we act for
We act for businesses, partnerships, landlords and tenants, property owners, individuals and overseas Pakistanis with disputes in Karachi. Some clients come to us when a dispute is only threatened and a well-drafted notice may still resolve it; others need urgent interim relief because a contract is being breached, a property is at risk or a decree has to be enforced.

How we work
- Initial reviewWe read the documents, the correspondence and any court papers, and identify the claim, the limitation position and the correct forum.
- Advice on optionsYou receive a short written view: notice, negotiation, arbitration or a suit, with the main risks of each.
- Pleadings and interim reliefIf proceedings are needed, we draft the plaint, written statement or petition and, where justified, an application for an interim injunction.
- Hearings and evidenceWe prepare witnesses and documents for evidence and appear at hearings, keeping you informed after each date.
- Judgment, appeal or enforcementAfter judgment we advise on appeal, or move to execution so the decree is actually satisfied.

- The High Court of Sindh, including its original civil jurisdiction in Karachi for claims above the pecuniary limit fixed by law

Most civil procedure is governed by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (temporary injunctions under Order XXXIX), the Specific Relief Act, 1877 and the Limitation Act, 1908. Time limits matter: a strong claim can be lost if it is filed late.
Why MSA Law Chamber
- We give a written assessment of the forum, the evidence and the realistic outcome before recommending a suit.
- Scope of work and fees are discussed and confirmed with you before work starts.
Frequently asked questions
Matters are handled before the district courts in Karachi, the High Court of Sindh and arbitral forums. The correct forum depends on the claim, the contract and the relief required.
A suit is not always the first or best step. We begin with the facts and the documents, then advise whether notice, negotiation, arbitration or a court filing is the sounder path.
Yes. Commercial contracts, shareholder conflicts, recovery and enforcement form a substantial part of the litigation practice.
It depends on the court, the type of case and whether the other side contests it. Interim applications can be heard quickly; a full trial with evidence usually takes much longer. We give you a realistic estimate after reviewing the file, not a promise.
Yes. The Limitation Act, 1908 sets time limits that vary with the type of claim. If you think you have a claim, take advice early so the limitation period can be checked.
A stay order is usually sought as a temporary injunction in a pending suit under Order XXXIX, Rules 1 and 2 CPC. The application is filed with the suit and supported by an affidavit and documents. The court considers whether there is a prima facie case, where the balance of convenience lies and whether refusal would cause irreparable loss, and it may grant interim relief until the next hearing.
A legal notice is a written demand from an advocate that sets out the claim and the action that will follow if it is not met. Some laws require notice before a case is filed, for example a suit against the government under Section 80 CPC. In other cases it is a practical step that records the demand and often leads to settlement.
